Square Enix announces NieR: Automata PC release date, and outlines feature share with Final Fantasy XV

NieR: Automata, the action RPG we are feverishly looking forward to at DDNet, is now linked to Final Fantasy XV. Noctis’s primary weapon, the Engine Blade, can be unlocked for in-game use by NieR Automata’s protagonist, YorHa No. 2 Type B.

PlatinumGames and Square Enix are infusing the weapon with its own unique play style in the NieR world. While equipped, it will provide a distinct evasion effect, while the damage count style directly copies that of Final Fantasy XV. Whether Final Fantasy XV will receive any tie-ins of its own from NieR: Automata is still unclear.

Square Enix has also released gameplay of YorHa No. 2 Type B with the Engine Blade, in action. Check it out !

The first NieR game was a geniune masterpiece that suffered in sales, partly due to a lack of awareness. By affiliating the series with Final Fantasy, the unrivalled RPG blockbuster franchise, presumably it is hoped the qualities of NieR: Automata will garner a spotlight.

NieR: Automata releases in Japan on 23 February 2017.

A press release issued by Square Enix this morning re-confirmed that NieR: Automata for PS4 launches 7 March in North America and 10 March in Europe. However, a previous announcement concerning the PC release date as identical with the PS4 date was in fact erroneous and Square Enix clarified that NieR: Automata has no firm release date on PC outside of “2017.”

Ys Origin coming to PS4 and PS Vita

DotEmu announced during the PlayStation Experience 2017 keynote that Ys Origin for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita will release on 21 February 2017 in North America.

Following a devastating demonic invasion, the twin Goddesses use their magic to bring the inhabitants of Ys safely into the sky. The demons however work to construct a Devil’s Tower to reach the humans’ new abode. As a mighty warrior or a cunning mage, you must seek the Goddesses in Devil’s Tower. The game can be played as either a mighty warrior or a cunning mage and the tight script makes a dual playthrough both feasible and enjoyable.

It’s the 10th anniversary of Ys Origin but the captivating story, stirring soundtrack, and trademark Ys fast battles still make it one of the best action RPGs of all time.

The Flame in the Flood: Complete Edition announced for PlayStation 4

Released on PC and Xbox One earlier this year, the award-winning The Flame in the Flood will make its PlayStation4 debut in January 2017 as a special Complete Edition. The Flame in the Flood: Complete Edition contains a brand new Directors’ Commentary – which offers insight into the design and development – a dynamic theme, two new system avatars, plus a host of gameplay enhancements. The PS4 version is being made by The Molasses Flood and Curve Digital.

The Flame in the Flood is a real voyage into the unknown through a visually beautiful yet impossibly harsh wilderness. Taking place in post-societal America, players must traverse a procedurally-generated landscape, foraging for supplies, crafting survival tools and evading predators in a hostile environment. The protagonists are a girl and her canine companion who attempt to survive the wilderness, trekking and rafting down a river.

The game was created by The Molasses Flood, a new studio with a focus on unique games built on a more intimate scale. Team members have previously worked with the likes of Irrational, Harmonix and Bungie.

We have a new Persona 5 trailer, because who isn’t looking forward to Persona 5?

Last but not least today, Atlus has released a new trailed that introduces one of the Persona 5 characters, Futaba.

Futaba is the game’s resident nerd character, and supports the other characters in battles through her elite skills. She’s also totally kawaii and sexy all in one, and we’re willing to bet right now that she’ll be one of the favourites in many people’s favourite lists.

The game itself released on April 4 for PlayStation 3 and 4. That’s right, those few people who haven’t upgraded to the newer hardware will even be able to play this one.

The trailer’s below. Enjoy it! We did;
