Fear not, PAL territories: Deep Silver is filling the Atlus/SEGA void left by NIS America

News by Lindsay M.

German publishing company Deep Silver is picking up where NISA left off a few months ago when they suddenly decided not to distribute games by Atlus or Sega in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. The deal includes both physical and digital releases for a number of games from both prominent developers.

There is only one word to properly express the emotion coming from all of us as DDnet over this news: SQUEEEEEEEEEEE!

The paperwork is signed, sealed and delivered. Both sides seem extremely pleased; Naoto Hiraoka (CEO of Atlus USA and senior VP of publishing of Sega America) said:
"In entering this partnership with Deep Silver, I am truly delighted we will be able to release our titles in the European regions. Not only does the deal span multiple titles, but Deep Silver has a strong presence in European and PAL retailers. They have a strong passion for being able to deliver physical games to our fans in those territories, which we hold in high regard."

Those are some very optimistic words coming from someone very important over at Atlus/Sega, so we’re certainly willing to trust Deep Silver. They’ve shown no reason not to, though, as the games they have published include Saints Row, Dead Island, and Metro.

When NIS America broke ties with Atlus and Sega, we had no idea what would come of exciting upcoming releases such as Persona 5 and 7th Dragon III Code: VFD. Granted, there still isn’t specific news on said titles yet, but Deep Silver promises that will come soon and DDnet promises to keep you in the loop!
