It’s that time of year again! The Christmas countdown is a tradition at Digitally Downloaded. Like the advent calendars filled with a chocolate each day, with our Christmas countdown we highlight a game each day that is perfect to help you get through the silly season.

Christmas is a time for family and friends, so it’s a good time of year to bust out the multiplayer games. It’s typically a time that people get some holidays, so it’s a good time to knock off some of those RPGs from the backlog.

More than anything else, it’s a good time for gaming. So grab a game or two from our little list and have yourself a Merry Christmas!

Day #19: SongPop Party

(Read our review of the game here)

Chances are you’ll need a party game through Christmas and the New Year. Especially the New Year. SongPop Party is all you’ll need. It’s a simple trivia game where players select a category, and then pick from one of four options as a small sample of a song belonging to that category is played.

Stick it on the Apple TV, and then make sure everyone that is playing has the app on their iDevice (it supports up to six players at a time), and then you’ll be set for a full night of drinking and partying.

What makes SongPop Party so, so good is the fact that it offers dozens of music categories, from Disco to hair rock, prayer music to R&B, and a simple interface that anyone can understand. That means that everyone from the Justin Bieber teenage girl in the family, right through to Grandma that still listens to oldies from the 50s, will be able to participate and feel like they know enough that they’re not embarrassing themselves.

And that makes it the perfect party trivia game; everyone gets to enjoy themselves.
