I already absolute adore Yarny. He’s just the cutest original character in a video game I’ve seen in a long time, and I’m enthralled by anything he does. He is also the star of Unravel, an upcoming game from Coldwood Interactive and EA that was our early pick as best of 2015’s E3 conference.

Needless to say, I am tickled pink by this news: Unravel will be released on February 9, 2016 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. As an added bonus, there is a brand new trailer to show off the game’s story. The trailer shows off not only some beautiful graphics but also some wonderfully enchanting music to accompany Yarny on his quest.

Yarny is made of a single thread of yarn, and he can use that yarn to solve environmental puzzles inspired by Northern Sweden (home to Coldwood Interactive). Puzzles range from quite simple, such as swinging across a gap, to far more complex. Yarny’s goal? To mend broken bonds. The yarn itself represents the connection between people. Come February 9, you may want to keep a box of tissues at the ready.
