Hatsune Miku; The Book - the Kickstarter is now live

You may remember that last week I announced that I was participating in a Kickstarter, along with five other incredibly talented authors, in which we will be producing a series of books about works of art that have had a powerful and lasting impact on us.

Other authors in our little team are writing about very worthy topics from Titus Andronicus to music albums from Plup. But me? I decided I should write a book about something that has had a profound impact on my life; I'm writing about Hatsune Miku.

Ever since I saw Miku live in concert I have become absolutely obsessed with what she means, both to me on a personal level, but also what she means to the broader music industry. Perhaps most of all, though, I am fascinated what what Hatsune Miku tells us about the Japanese culture, and humanity itself.

I've already spend six months doing preliminary research for this book, interviewing experts, travelling to events all over the world, and reading everything I can get my hands on that is even slightly related to this digital girl and her music. This book will be a story of discovery, of raw fascination, and of personal reflection.

The Kickstarter is seeking just $6,500, which for six books is a pretty reasonable goal, I think, and a pledge of as little as $10 will score you a copy of the book (and you can pledge more if you'd like more than one of the books - which I highly recommend you do!)

Oh, and one other perk - if you were to pledge $200 - I will write, record, and send you a personal oe-minute long Hatsune Miku song, where she will tell you just how awesome you are for being such a patron of the arts. There are only three pledges at that level available, so be sure to get in early!

So please back it, because you and I both know I can write an awesome book about Hatsune Miku. And, in the meantime, if you have any other questions, feel free to let me know and I'll do my best to answer - or, at least, get Phil, who is making all of this happen, give you a better answer.

It's Miku time!
