17 yeas after its original release, Baldur’s Gate is getting a new expansion. Available through the updated Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, Siege of Dragonspear boasts 25 hours of gameplay. I can already see Matt’s reaction: “ohboyohboyohboyohboyohboyohboy!”

Set between Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II, Siege of Dragonspear will explain how the player goes from being a hero at the end of the former to being imprisoned and tortured at the beginning of the latter. The Shining Lady is the new villain in the Forgotten Realms and the reason conflict will arise. Four new characters will be joining the original cast and there will be new areas to explore.

There is no release date scheduled yet, but we do know Siege of Dragonspear will be available first for Linux, PC, and Mac, with Androids and iOS versions coming a bit later.

Beamdog unveiled the new content simultaneously at the Art Gallery of Edmonton (AB, Canada) and on Twitch. Beamdog is run by one of BioWare’s original founders, but this is the Canadian game studio’s first foray into original content. The studio also developed Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition and Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition.

Ohboyohboyohboyohboyohboyohboy!
