It’s that time of year again, where we get readers to vote for their favourite games of 2014.

This year we even have an incentive to do so, courtesy of Nippon Ichi America. You can win one of three different prizes, just for voting! The prizes up for grabs are:

2 x Double Pack of PlayStation 3 Games (Tears To Tiara 2 and Arcana Heart 3: LOVE MAX!!!!!) – Physical Boxed Editions, open to anyone around the world.

2 x Physical Boxed copy of Persona Q on Nintendo 3DS (Europe/ Australia/ PAL only)

5 x Download Code copy of Persona Q on Nintendo 3DS (Europe/ Australia/ PAL only)

To be in the running to win one of those prizes, all you need to do is complete the below survey, where we ask you to rank the games we’ve listed from top to bottom, based on your preferences. Please note, it’s okay if you haven’t played the games – list them in the order you would like to play them if so – what we are looking to gauge with these awards is both favourites, and the games people are most interested in.

Each question is compulsary, and at the end you’ll be asked to input your details in order to go into the draw for one of the prizes – this will also sign you up for our weekly newsletter if you’re not already a member, where we will announce the winners.

All up it should only take you a couple of minutes to complete, and then you’ll be in the running for a game or games that will keep you busy for the holiday seasons 🙂

Each individual can enter once, and the voting will remain open until November 30, where we will start announcing the games of the year in December. So get in early everyone, good luck, and thank you for your help in deciding the best games of 2014!

A note on how the finalists were selected:

For each category, the Digitally Downloaded staff were asked to pick a couple of favourites, based on both personal criteria and what Digitally Downloaded stands for as an editorial policy (creativity and artistry), and from this we created a spreadsheet that had as many as 20 games per category. Then we applied a points system to vote for our top six games for the year. The points were collected together to arrive at our six finalists. Where there were ties for equal sixth, all games were included in the finalist category, and this is why you will see some categories with six games, and then others with as many as nine.

To qualify for inclusion in the lists, the game has to have been released for the first time on at least one new platform in either Europe, America, Australia or Japan. So Minecraft, which was released for the first time on the PlayStation Vita, qualified for inclusion despite the base game being many years old now. Similarly, Bravely Default on the Nintendo 3DS was released in some territories in 2013, but because it was released in the US for the first time in 2014, it also qualified.

If you have any further enquiries about the process, please feel free to ask in the comments below.
