Hatsune Miku performs on Late Show with David Letterman

News by Jedediah H.

Like my poetic empress ex-girlfriend who turned out to be a mental fabrication once said, "There's nothing more jovial than a morning full of Miku." She may have been an abstract construct, but knee me in the sensitive quads if she wasn't right. Last night, American audiences received a hint of that joviality on The Late Show with David Letterman, with Hatsune Miku performing "Sharing the World" for a live studio audience.

As an American who's not only familiar with but also a fervent fan of Miku (though my level of enthusiasm is pimp-slapped then overshadowed by Matt's),  I was curious to observe how an American audience who may not be as knowledgeable or enthusiastic about the virtual diva would receive her, because when she first began filling stadiums in Japan, most took her as a futuristic oddity. But, oh, how the times are progressing.

Letterman pretty much embodied the feeling of awkwardness I imagine of mainstream America's opinion, regarding the performance and vocaloids in general, with his strained display of gratitude. Still, I know there are several thousands of us in the U.S. who appreciate her existence.
