Sword Art Online has proven to be a rather divisive show since it began airing, with many watchers either thoroughly decrying it or becoming enraptured by its high-stakes drama. Nonetheless, its popularity has skyrocketed since 2012 and there’s clearly sufficient hype surrounding the show’s second season to warrant screenings throughout numerous countries.

The anime will have its television premiere on July 5th in Japan, but that won’t be the only way to view it. Aniplex of America will be screening the first episode live at Anime Expo a few hours earlier on July 4th and others are set to follow suit throughout the world. Details regarding the other venues are currently scarce, but Aniplex has promised that various events will be held in the United States, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, and Japan.
If you’re not able to make it to one of the screenings in person, rest assured that Crunchyrollwill be holding an online simulcast on the same day as the Japanese television launch.
The anime’s second season focuses on a fictional MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role playing game) called Gun Gale Online, wherein firearms, knives, and light saber-like weapons are utilised by the players.

You can check out the official Sword Art Online websitefor further details as they are announced. You can also watch the show’s first season here (as well as the second season once it airs).
