Baldur’s Gate opens on OSX

Mac gamers rejoice, one of the greatest CRPG’s of all time is now available on OSX.

There isn’t too much that hasn’t been said about Baldur’s Gate. Black Isle’s now classic RPG was a landmark game for the PC the second it hit stores way back in 1998 and it’s still just as engrossing of an adventure today. It does look a little the worse for wear though- it is over 14 years old after all.

Enter Beamdog and Overhaul Games.

The Mac version is the same game as the brand new, remastered version of the classic title that’s already running on PC and iOS (which we reviewed right here). The remake boasts over 50 hours of gameplay, as well as brand new allies, party members, and quests that weren’t in the Black Isle original. All version of the game can interplay with each other too, so PC players can quest right alongside their iOS and Mac brethren in multiplayer. Now that’s pretty slick.

Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition is available now for Mac (as well as the PC and iOS devices) exclusively through Beamdog Software’s website. You can grab it here. An Android version is still incoming, but there’s no firm release date as of yet.
