Games have the ability to move us, inspire us or simply make us happy.
More and more game developers seem to understand this, too. It's been a real, positive, development in the games industry that titles such as Limbo or Journey are capable of hitting mass-market popularity, despite both games being built almost entirely around generating an emotional response in the player.
So this week let's have a look at the games that have generated an emotional response as you'd played it. What games have made you purely happy, or even made you cry?

MGS3 remains to be the only game that made me cry. Dat ending :(
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots had tears streaming from my eyes and I let them flow freely - I ain't ashamed! Haha
Seriously, I've enjoyed the entire series - Metal Gear Solid on PSone is probably the most incredible memorable gaming experience of my life - and I felt the team closed out the series perfectly.
Yeah, MGS does have some amazing storylines. I always wondered why Platinum scored the rights to make a MGS branded game on that basis. It's an awesome looking game, but dang Platinum can't do plots.
MGS3 & 4, Heavy rain, Suikoden 2, FF7, haven't beaten it yet but im thinking ni no kuni will be on this list too
ffx poor acted? i liked it and i even met one of the voice acters in person
Neither can Kojima.
It was mostly because of that laughing scene, I think. Felt way too forced and it was hard to really remember much else.
Of course, voice acting in the PS2 days was generally inferior to what we have now, so FFX was still amongst the top of the pack.
Which voice actor did you meet?
Old school JRPG, that one. Real, genuine turn based battles. Three discs to work through... It's like a PSOne era Final Fantasy game, but prettier!
I am gonnna go out on a limb here
DEUS EX, the whole mind f*** that was varying between different locales and the whole illuminati concepts you learn of as you play through ending with the infamous endings. That was all pretty emtional.
I've barely started DX:HR (I mainly use it for benchmarking!) but ive heard its not as comprehensive as the original.

Also how Batman managed to capture the [animated] canon in a way that was not acheiveable before.
The various trailers/spots for the Transformers games made me happy especially the newest one.
Its funny how some of the franchises most dear to people were the hardest to translate to video games. There have been many Batman and Transformers games on various platforms but they were not major hits, so it took 25 years to acheive these milestones.
james arnold taylor. he does a ton of voice acting. he does tidus
also To The Moon for PC!
MGS3 was one that really did move me, but it's defiantly not the only one. There are so many though, but I will always remember 4 of them.
::WARNING THERE ARE SPOILERS::
Dante's Inferno really got me. The pain and horror that he goes through to save Beatrice just to have her taken away, one word, powerful. That game has such a good meaning to it.
Kingdom Hearts 2 had me choking back tears when Sora and Riku finally return to the island and all of their friends are there. It was a great ending to the game.
Above all though, Stranger's Wrath will always make this man cry like a baby. It will always be my favorite game. I guess because it caught me off guard I didn't expect such from an Oddworld game. The game takes such a drastic turn, you go from the most feared man in the game, to a helpless creature, then to a god. His struggle with who he is and what happened to his people then finally taking vengeance to only find out that the man who destroyed his race, was one of his kind. I was crying.
The Legend of Zelda games. All of them. Nuff said.
RPG's usually take the most time with their story of course - so they are generally a good choice. Limbo was mentioned in the beginning and it was quite the tale. For me most recently? To the Moon really hit a bittersweet tone with me throughout the roughly four or five hours of gameplay. A friend gifted that to me a bit before the holidays and I'm really glad he did as I probably wouldn't have played it otherwise.
To The Moon is essential for anyone that wants to read a good story in their games, I agree.
Oh, Stranger's Wrath, great choice! The ending is special indeed, makes thegame well worth playing even today (it hasn't aged that badly, anyway). Stranger is one of the most likeable characters out there.
The day that Stranger's Wrath HD came out, it was bought. It's my favorite game of all time.
