Yeah, if Nintendo delivers on these promises, this will be nothing short of a spectacular way to be social and engage through the console.
It would also put Nintendo, on the social front, ahead of both Sony and Microsoft, so at this stage I'm colouring my interest with a dash of marketing salt, but I really, really have my fingers crossed.
C'mon Nintendo, you can do this.
This really could be revolutionary in gaming, almost by default pulling the vast majority of Nintendo gamers into the social gaming arena. Not that I am suggesting they will worry facebook and such, but if they are really smart, then easy, even automatic, connection to twitter and facebook updating would be included. Since the machine has it's own browser, there is no reason why this should not be so. Deals to synch the Wii U "social" content with various mobile devices and services are another obvious step. Iwata made a point of saying that this new direction will be followed with future Nintendo devices too. Now, to seal the deal Ninty needs to look at cross-platform gaming…
