Metal Gear Solid 3:Snake Eater 3D was arguably the best ‘last gen’ episode of the espionage action series. The Cold War epic is about to go portable with a 3D remake, but 3DS owners can get a ‘sneak’ peak right now.

The full-blown retail version of Snake Eater drops in US stores on the 21st, but the new demo (which landed on the eShop today) will actually give you a good solid taste of the game.

With the full version scheduled to be released in North America on February 21st, 2012, the METAL GEAR SOLID SNAKE EATER 3D demo will allow users to experience the immersion of exploring its incredibly detailed jungle setting. The demo showcases the opening segment of the game, with series hero Snake picking a path through the swamps and foliage of a Soviet jungle in search of an imprisoned scientist.

As far as gameplay, the demo showcases the interactive camo and close combat systems and should let prospective buyers know what they’ll be buying into. Tell you one thing though, with the Vita launch next week, the 3DS picked a great time to be hitting it’s stride with a good stream of quality games.

  • I've played the demo twice now. And it's good. If you don't have a PS3 and the MGS HD collection (which is superior, 3D notwithstanding), then this is a safe bet.
