A Game of Thrones is looking really, really good

Fantasy buffs are going to lap this up: George R.R. Martin's modern classic, A Game of Thrones, is not only coming to TV courtesy of HBO, but is also invading PCs with a new strategy game.

Review: Order and Chaos Online (iPad); Gameloft, you offend me

Order and Chaos Online on the iPad is a stupid idea. The problem isn’t that the game exists in the first place - it conforms to every Gameloft tradition, in that it's an inferior knockoff of a great game. And in shamelessly copying World of Warcraft's design philosophy, Gameloft has outdone itself and ripped off perhaps the most influential game of all time – that by itself should be a recipe for lots of money.

Why is that guy checking out the horse's backside?

Review: First Touch Soccer (iPhone)

If you've never played a soccer simulator before then odds are you're probably not that interested in soccer. It would be beneficial to remedy this unfortunate situation by playing First Touch Soccer, as this game will not only entertain and engross you but may just give you an appreciation for the beautiful game (soccer, that is). Combining an intuitive user interface, crisp graphics, smooth gameplay and loads of options, First Touch Soccer is an every-man sport-sim which will provide hours upon hours of challenging entertainment that will keep you coming back for more.

Is the guy wearing black levitating?!?

Check out in-game video for Runespell: Overture!

We're quite excited about the upcoming poker/ collectible card game/ RPG mash-up, Runespell, and after seeing some in-game footage, we're even more so.

Review: Bronze (PC)

Bronze is really, really good value. That the game is available exclusively on PC is a little strange, because it’s basically a Eurogame board game designed for one player, when the the iPad is now much better for this genre. And while we’d love to see a physical board game version of it or a port to the iPad, the PC game is hugely addictive and a good place to start for this franchise.

It's not the most action-packed game, of course

Review: Sequence (XBLA Indie Games)

Ever wonder what would happen if Rock Band met Super Puzzle Fighter then got doused with an RPG? Turns out you get Sequence. And if that sounds like way to many things mixed together to be any kind of a cohesive experience, you'd be right... But Sequence just seems to 'work'. (Maybe it's magic?)

Preview: Dofus Battles (iPhone, iPod, iPad)

Written By TruFaith on Thursday, May 12, 2011 | 08:45

From the makers of the epic manga/ anime stylized turn based strategy MMORPG's Dofus, Dofus
Arena and Wakfu comes a new spin off game called Dofus Battles exclusive to the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad iOS systems.

Neonga launches on Facebook

Facebook has a new 3D MMO from today, following the launch of Neonga.

It's a social-focused MMO, but there's plenty of evil monsters to deal with as well. Naturally, in keeping with the Facebook integration, players have the option to pull their friends into the game as well, and post updates to their wall.

Looking at the screenshot - Facebook keeps on moving up as a gaming platform. We're going to give this one a whirl - stay tuned for a full report.

Review: Garshasp: The Monster Slayer; a very unfortunate God of War clone (PC)

Written By Matt Sainsbury on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 | 22:24

Garshasp: The Monster Slayer is a really, really unfortunate game. It has so, so much potential, but has been released on a platform that for most people will be completely inappropriate for its gameplay. And as such, it’s probably not going to get the attention it deserves.

This game is derivative, but except for one catastrophic problem, it's still a hell of a lot of fun

Review: Dynamo Kid (iPhone)

Orange Pixel’s Dynamo Kid aims to bring the joy of platforming games to the iPhone without complex rules in tow. It offers all the complexity of the genre without on-screen buttons and will present a grand challenge to aficionados.

This is an adorable retro-themed platformer

Review: Legendary Wars HD (iPad)

Legendary Wars does a good job at being a pretty looking and basic RTS, and offering a great deal of content for the small asking price. But some strange writing decisions and a lack of depth inside the game really hurt its long term value.

Oooh dragon

Reiner Knizia's Cluster Master now on Android

ClusterMaster on the iPad remains one of our favourite puzzle games on the device. And now Android owners get to enjoy it. Even better - it's free.

It's a game that continues the successful collaboration between developers, TribeFlame, and Knizia on Android devices. We hope Android owners already have the adaptation of the excellent board game, Through the Dessert.

A board game for every console

Board games are great fun, but sometimes it can be difficult getting family and friends into one place to get a game going. Which is where video game consoles come in – for the board game nut, they might not be a superior experience to a ‘real’ board game, but they’re a good bandaid solution.

The good news is, regardless of which console you own, there is at least one good board game available on it for download and play. Read on for one example of a great downloadable board game for each major games platform!

Activision Blizzard has had a heck of a quarter

Written By Matt Sainsbury on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 | 21:58

Thanks almost entirely to the success of Call of Duty and World of Warcraft, Activision Blizzard has enjoyed a record quarter, according to recent financial results.

The publisher's generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) net revenues increased to $1.4 bullion, compared to $1.3 billion for the same period in 2010. In addition, GAAP net revenues from digital channels now accounts for 30 per cent of overall revenue.

Preview: Matrix Games' Panzer Corps

Matrix Games is back with Panzer Corps, and it’s set to be a very accessible, easy to play retro-style strategy game. Where some of the other Matrix games; like Advanced Tactics: Gold or Combat Command aim at the more hardcore strategists, Panzer Corps as a modern imagining of the old SSI Panzer General formula is easy to get into.

Looks familiar? Most strategy fans will know what this game means

Review: Destructopus (iPhone)

Remember Rampage? It’s one of those retro game series that has fallen way out of favour, but at the time, it was an arcade classic. It essentially followed the formula of Godzilla – gargantuan beastie tears up cities, and put you in control of one of three different monsters – an ape, a wolf and a lizard, and had you smashing buildings and eating people for points.

Dodging is this game's greatest weakness. In short - it's sluggish

Review: Mighty Milky Way (DSiWare)

Mighty Milky Way is the latest DSiWare release from WayForward. Considering the company’s track record and its ability to push out phenomenal titles like Shantae, you would expect Milky Way to continue that trend. With a unique concept that involves guiding an alien across an array of planetoids, how could you go wrong?

WayForward had two DSiWare hits. This is not a third

Review: Dwarfs!? (PC)

Dwarfs!? is an utterly charming, but utterly frustrating little game. It’s an indie release well worth the $10 asking price on Steam, but be aware that, just like the Lemmings that these Dwarves draw inspiration from, the little idiots make for some very painful moments.

At the end of longer games, the game is massive in size - this was the final moments of a 30 minute game

Review: Dash Race (iPhone)

Written By Matt Sainsbury on Monday, May 9, 2011 | 13:30

Dash Race, despite the name, is not a fast paced racing game. It’s actually one of those pen-and-paper games that people play to while away time on plains, trains and other assorted confined places – much like boxes and noughts and crosses.

This is probably not what you thought when you saw 'Dash Race'

Review: Din's Curse and expansion, Demon War (PC)

Written By Matt Sainsbury on Sunday, May 8, 2011 | 22:29

Din’s Curse and its expansion, Demon War, is an indie project with no small amount of ambition and soul. Lofty goals alone almost elevate this game above its roots, but all those ideas rest on a very rickety coding foundation, prone to breaking down and becoming very frustrating.

Deep, dark dungeons - couldn't think of a better weekend buster
