R.I.P GamePro

A bit of a sad day in the games industry; the 20-year old publication, GamePro, is being shelved.

It's a tough time for the more traditional games journalism publishing, with a lot of competition from blogs and smaller websites, and a dwindling print audience.

A pity; there was some quality stuff in GamePro over its many years.

My older brother and I subscribed in the mid or early 90s, I cannot remember which. Fun factor: 5.0! Protip: Print is dying, but I won't give it up!

Yeah, this made me sad to read, but when I was younger, I regularly picked up/had subscriptions to Gamepro, Electronic Gaming Monthly and Nintendo Power.  Just a few weeks ago, I was looking at potential magazine subscriptions to get my son for Christmas, and my wife suggest MAD and I was looking at EGM and Gamepro.  We went with MAD since I already get game informer.  Probably just as well now, but here is hoping that the GamePro staff is successful in whatever they do next.
