The 24 Games of Christmas! Day #7; Fate of the World

Seeing green and red? It must be Christmas!

Every year the world patiently (or not-so-patiently) counts down those 24 days to Christmas; there’s even calendars filled with little treats to help keep the young ones patient.

Then the big day rolls around and it’s filled with great food, great company and, of course, presents.

Christmas is the best time of year, and so to do our bit in celebrating we’re doing our own advent calendar. Each day we’ll unveil another game that has touched us in some way over the year – whether because it’s a work of interactive art, laugh-out-loud funny or just so weird it blew our mind.

So be sure to check back each day for a new game suggestion to fill your Christmas break!

A timely game, and one able to convince everyone who plays it just how screwed we are. Only Fate of the World could fit that description: a sim that pits you against the forces of climate change. The thing was with Fate of the World, was just how much it made you crap your pants, and weep for, er, the fate of the world.

So while this game isn't really going to put you in the Christmas spirit, as such, it's sure as heck going to get you playing advent away.

Perhaps one of the few games to actually affect my daily habits (other than Ocarina of Time, and ever since I’ve played that I welcome the dawn by playing the Sun Song on my alarm clock) by utterly terrifying me to be more green – and even when I do them, I’m overcome by a sense of futility.

Depressing, yes – but brilliantly puts our situation into an effective educational medium. I’d highly recommend it to a fan of sims, or anyone needing any more reason not to keep living. Read the review here!
