Wow has XBL Arcade had a good half year

Written By Matt Sainsbury on Monday, July 25, 2011 | 20:15

Microsoft has announced the top ten selling XBLA games for the first half of 2011, and a staggering fact: the Arcade has grown to be worth $US66.2 million in revenues (in the US).

That's a growth of 41 per cent over the same time last year. 18 games saw revenue estimates of over $1 million in the period, also a record for the service.

The top selling games are:

1) Full House Poker (268,000 units, $2.7 million in revenue)
2) Torchlight (238,000 units, $3.6 million in revenue)
3) Magic: The Gathering 2012 (222,000 units, $2.2 million in revenue)
4) Trials HD (216,000 units, $2.9 million in revenue)
5) Beyond Good & Evil HD (173,000 units, $1.7 million in revenue)
6) Dungeons & Dragons: Daggerdale (166,000 units, $2.5 million in revenue)
7) ilomilo (166,000 units, $1.6 million in revenue)
8) Dead Rising 2: Case West (144,000 units, $1.3 million in revenue)
9) Limbo (139,000 units, $1.8 million in revenue)
10) Family Game night - All Titles (135,000 units, $1.3 million in revenue)

We are really glad to see some genuine classics were rewarded on Microsoft's download platform: Limbo, Beyond Good & Evil, Torchlight and Magic the Gathering all deserve plaudits. It's a little less pleasing to see Dungeons and Dragons on there, considering how bad the game turned out, but it's proof that the license just needs a good developer behind it and D & D could still produce a major hit.
